Application Situation:

Access chamber (5 x 5m) to district heating pipework.

 
 

Problem:

Corrosion on feed and return pipes as well as on supporting steelwork. System is in continuous use so products capable of application to hot surfaces required.

Application Method:

Application was carried out in accordance with a modified version of Belzona Know-How System Leaflet VPF-2. Initially dry ice blasting was done to remove soil, oil and loose corrosion. Then two coats of the products were applied; Belzona® 5831 to supports and drainage pipe, Belzona® 5851 to feed-pipe & Belzona® 5841 to return pipe.

 
 

Belzona Facts:

Despite the limited amount of surface preparation together with the application being done in-situ and with the heating system in continuous use, cost effective long term corrosion protection could be provided using the individual Belzona products selected for the individual surface conditions/temperature. The client expressed his satisfaction with the appearance of the application when inspected after 2 years service.
