| Abrasion Protection For Coal Classifiers With Belzona® 1813 | | | | Industry:Power (POWR) | | | | Application:Solids Handling Machinery (SHM) | | | | Customer Location:Germany North Rhine Westfalia | | | | Application Date:August 2011 | | | | Application Situation:Coal-fired power station. The coal classifier is installed behind the coal pulverising mills. The pulverised coal is subsequently injected into the boiler furnace via the coal classifier. | | | | Problem:Extensive abrasion and wear | | | | Products:Belzona® 1813 | | | | Substrate:Quenched and tempered C60 steel | | | | Application Method:Initially, an ASR form was completed and reviewed by the technical team. Belzona® 1813 was applied by hand to the classifier edges and plate sides to a depth of approximately 100 mm. | | | | Belzona Facts:The life of each classifier had been about six months, with service conditions including temperatures of up to 160°C (dry) and a throughput rate of approximately 5000m3/h per unit. Following the application of Belzona® 1813 on a trial basis, there were few signs of abrasion on the classifier deflector plates upon inspection 10 months later, in 2012. As a result, the customer plans to coat the old classifiers with Belzona® 1813 to prolong service life and other power stations within the group are investigating the use of this technology. | | | | Photographs Description
