| Belzona Seals Oil Leaks On Transformer Bushings | | | Industry:Power (POWR) | | | Application:Valves, Pipes and Fittings (VPF) | | | Customer Location:Gas-Fired Power Plant - Toronto, Canada | | | Application Date:June 2012 | | | Application Situation:During the summer outage, the maintenance crew noted that some oil was present in the sump pit beneath the transformers. | | | Problem:It was noted that a small oil leak was present at the bushing. No oil should leak from this bushing. The heavy electrical cables were not supported adequately. | | | Products:Belzona 1161 (Super UW Metal) | | | Substrate:Ceramic & Metal | | | Application Method:Application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflet VPF-11. The ceramic insulator was roughened with a Dremel before applying the Belzona 1161 by brush to seal the oil leaks. | | | Belzona Facts:The conventional alternative would have been to drain the transformers, replace the ceramic insulators including the bushings. It would have taken at least 2 days to complete this project. The application of Belzona 1161 as described only took 3 hours per transformer. Two transformers were completed within the same shutdown. | | | Photographs Description
