Marine (MRNE)

Ships and Offshore Structures (SOS)

Customer Location:

Drydock, UK

Application Date:

November 2012

Application Situation:

High speed passenger ferry propulsion units.

The jet tubes suffer cavitation due to the high flow rates through them.

Belzona 1111 (Super Metal)
Belzona 1341 (Supermetalglide)

Mild Steel and existing Belzona 1341

Application Method:

Application is carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflets SOS-1 & 2.  After removing and replacing "top hat" inspection covers, Belzona 1111 applied to fair off before coating entire tube with Belzona 1341.

Belzona Facts:

The application is an annual job that is performed while the ferry is in dry dock. Although most of the Belzona 1341 is intact, by applying an extra coat of Belzona 1341 over the existing Belzona coating the jet tubes are kept in full working service rather than waiting until a major failure.
