Belzona® Creates Positive Grip On Rubber Clad Conveyor Drive Drum

Application Situation:

Rubber clad conveyor drive roller (diameter 400 mm and length 800 mm) positioned on a conveyor system for transportation of gravel and sand from the dredger ashore. The gravel pit was operating 24/7.

 
 

Problem:

The worn rubber cladding was allowing belt slippage. Customer needed to solve the problem without dismantling the equipment in order to minimize downtime.

Belzona 2111 (D&A HI-Build Elastomer)

Belzona 9211 (Supergrip aggregate)

Application Method:

The application was carried out in accordance with modified Belzona Know-How System Leaflet SHM-12. Belzona 9211 non-slip aggregate was embedded in  Belzona 2111 applied in chevron designed stripes.

 
 

Belzona Facts:

Because of the specific situation, all the alternatives including dismantling of the roller and transporting it ashore, would cause unacceptable downtime for the customer. Belzona repair was carried out during planned 1 day downtime. It required only removal of the conveyor belt 10 cm away from the roller so the roller could be rotated without touching the belt. Equipment was back in service in 24 hours.
