Petrochemical (PETR)

Tanks and Chemical Containment Areas (TCC)

Customer Location:

Chemical & Additive manufacturer, Essex, UK

Application Date:

March 2013

Application Situation:

Chemical storage tank

The aggressive nature of additives held within the tank had caused leaks to appear along the welded seam around the base. Due to the high cost and high demand of the additives a lengthy shutdown for repairs was not an option.

Belzona 4301 (Magma CR1 High Build)

High grade stainless steel

Application Method:

Application was carried out in accordance with a modified version of Belzona Know-How Sytem Leaflet TCC-1.

Belzona Facts:

Conventional repairs would have involved either removal and repair off-site or replacement. These methods were considered too expensive and requiring too much downtime. The Belzona repair was carried out in situ, without hotworks and was completed in only one day. The completed application was post-cured using halogen lamps to speed up cure times and improve chemical resistance.
