Belzona® Used In Windmill Refurbishment

Buildings & Structures (BSTR)

Roof Problem Areas (RPA)

Customer Location:

Windmill, Buckinghamshire, UK

Application Date:

April 2013

Application Situation:

Old windmill used as accomodation undergoing refurbishment

With the exposed nature of a windmill it was essential to provide long-term waterproofing.

Belzona 3111 (Flexible Membrane)

Application Method:

Once the sails had been removed the wooden cap was taken down and work could commence to replace any rotten or damaged timber. Upon completion of the structural work the fully reinforced Belzona 3111 system was applied in accordance with Belzona System Leaflet RPA-1. With all the overlapping timbers it required the patience of a craftsman to carefully lay the reinforcing sheet into the Belzona 3111 to achieve a wrinkle free finish with the sheet closely following the substrate profile.

Belzona Facts:

The windmill restoration specialists and the millwrights who carry out the work are a tight-knit community. Belzona products have a reputation for long term durabilty in similar situations and along with previous experience on other mills it made perfect sense to specify the Belzona 3111 system.
