Belzona® Rebuilds And Protects Seawater Strainer

Application Situation:

Seawater strainer.



Erosion corrosion was taking its toll on the inner surfaces of this seawater strainer. Years of inadequate protection from inferior coatings was dramatically reducing the span of this important piece of equipment.



Belzona 1311 (Ceramic R Metal)

Belzona 1321 (Ceramic S Metal)



Cast Iron


Application Method:

Application was carried out in accordance with the modified Belzona System Leaflets SOS-1 & -2.


Belzona Facts:

Conventional coatings cannot handle the erosion and corrosion and microbiological attack this equipment is subjected to. Conventional repair methods such as welding are not possible.

  1. The extent of the corrosion damage can be seen after the seawater strainer has been grit blasted
  2. The pitted areas were rebuilt with Belzona 1311
  3. The completed repair after the application of 2 coats of Belzona 1321
