Problem: The wall area and the bottom of the thickener presented areas with localized corrosion, which needed thickness and internal lining repair. In addition protection of the steel plate against corrosion, caused by copper pulp at room temperature, was required.

Application Method
The coating was applied on half of the internal area of the wall and on half of the support beams of the bottom of the thickener based on Belzona Know-How System Leaflets TCC-1 and TCC-5. First, the thickener was washed to remove the copper ore residues. Following the surface preparation, with dry abrasive blast to achieve near white metal finish, the holes, pits and existing welds were repaired with Belzona 1311. After that, Belzona 1321 was applied on the bottom of the thickener, and Belzona 5831 was applied on the wall.
