Problem: Pitting, erosion, corrosion, delaminatioin and accumulation of dirt from the humidity prematurely degrades the life expectancy of the fan blades. Additionally, cleaning and balancing are difficult due to dust penetration and clinging to the blades.

Application Situation
Spray caster chamber fan discharges particles, dust and heat from the mill located down from the blast furnaces. Heat and abrasion are critical factors. Fans are exposed to small parts of bromide and bleach, less than 24ppm.
Application Method
Application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflet FBC-2 and the IFU for Belzona 5891. Fan was grit blased with sand, cleaned with Belzona 9111 and two coats of Belzona 5891 applied.
Belzona Facts
Belzona 5891 HT was selected because it met the temperature exposure limits as well as the chemical exposure contained in the water. Customer has coated two fans that are still in service today. Previously, they were replacing spray caster fans every 18 months.
