Application Situation:

New bearing wheel that will operate in a bag house dust room exposed to abrasion on the exterior and filled with bearings and hydrocarbon on the interior.



Erosion from the dust particles in the bag house room cause cavitated pits. Humidity and water exposure caused corrosion of the metal, shortening the work life of the bearing wheel. The unit needs to stay in service for 8 years holding bearings and oil. It is costly to replace or repair.



Belzona 5811 (Immersion Grade)

Application Method:

The application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflet FBC-2 and the IFU for 5811. After grit blasting, cleaning and degreasing, we applied two coats of 5811 in two different colors to help detect pin holes. Material was applied with a roller and brush.


Belzona Facts:

Belzona 5811 was selected because of it's rating for hydrocarbons, adhesion and temperature rating. The bag house bearing wheel needs to have a service life of 8 years due to the cost of replacement. Without a protective coating these units required extensive service for corrosion and oxidation control.
