Belzona® Saves Coal Dryer Exhaust Fan

Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC)

Fans, Blowers and Compressors (FBC)

Customer Location:

British Columbia, CA

Application Date:

April 2014

Application Situation:

This fan handles hot exhaust from a gas-fired dryer at a coal mine.

Exhaust contains fine coal dust and moisture, which erodes the fan blades, including the AR steel blade protectors.

Belzona 1311 (Ceramic R-Metal)

Belzona 1391 (Ceramic HT)

AR steel

Application Method:

After proper surface preparation, the application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflet FBC-1.

Belzona Facts:

The Belzona rebuild is more cost effective than replacing the AR wear plates. Also, power drawn by the fan motor is dramatically reduced. For these reasons, this has become a regular maintenance procedure on this fan.  In this case, the fan rotor had been neglected for several years as it was scheduled for replacement. Unfortunately, the new rotor was not effective so the original one was reinstalled and rebuilt once again with Belzona.
