Photograph Descriptions
  1. Hazardous area at the entrance to the shopping center
  2. Slip reduction system introduced in 2011
  3. System still in place in 2015
Application Situation
The main entrance to the shopping center had become a slip hazard. The council had previously tried to put a mat down to reduce the hazard, however, this only lead to more accidents.
Application Method
The application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflet FPA-8. After repairing broken tiles with Belzona 4111, Belzona 5811 was applied thinly as a two coat system before Belzona 9231 was sprinkled onto the surface to give the desired level of grip.
Belzona Facts
The application was completed in 2 stages to allow the shopping center to continue to trade with minimum disruption. It was also carried out through the cold winter period. The system was revisited in February 2015 and it is still exhibiting excellent slip resistance. Thousands of people have been walking over it and the council has not had one slip, trip or fall reported in four years!
