Problem: The complex geometry of the flanged joints facilitates the occurrence of problems, such as crevice corrosion in the void between the two flange faces and galvanic corrosion, where the use of different metals can create serious consequences.

Application Method
The application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflet GSS-11. The surface preparation was carried out manually with emery cloth according to the standard SSPC SP2/SP3, equivalent to St2/St3. After the surface was prepared and cleaned, the joints were sealed between the flange faces with tape and Belzona 8411, a corrosion inhibitor, was applied. After the protection of bolts with caps, Belzona 3411 was applied in two coats, utilizing Belzona 9311 in the circumference and in the extremities of the flanges. At the end, a visual inspection was carried out.

The client was very satisfied with the simple application of Belzona 3411, which offers excellent corrosion resistance and allows for eassy access to flange fastenings with its peelable and resealable system.
