| Belzona Saves The Carbon Fiber | | | Industry:Pulp & Paper (PLPR) | | | Application:Valves, Pipes and Fittings (VPF) | | | Customer Location:Southeast Washington, USA | | | Application Date:June 2015 | | | Application Situation:30' long carbon fiber shield on a paper mill. | | | Problem:The customer uses a pressure washer to clean off the fiber carbon shield, resulting in the carbon fiber deteriorating and pieces of it falling off. | | | Products:Belzona 1311 (Ceramic R-Metal) | | | Substrate:Carbon Fiber | | | Application Method:The surface of the application area was cleaned with a pressure washer, prepped with wire brushes and then blown off with air to remove the loose fiber particles. Belzona 1311 was then applied with Belzona applicators and putty knives at 1/4" thick. | | | Belzona Facts:Over time, this fiber carbon shield would have suffered enough material loss to require replacement where a shut down of production and days of work would be necessary to remove and replace the equipment, and still have the same problem with the new one. Belzona 1311 allowed for an in-situ repair and provides long-term protection at a fraction of the cost. | | | Photographs Description
