Problem:

The U.S. Navy required superior protection against erosion and corrosion in the bearing area of the stern tube when the ship was dry docked.

 
 

Products:

Belzona 1111 (Super Metal)

Belzona 1341 (Supermetalglide)

 

Substrate:

Steel

 
 

Application Method:

The stern tube was grit blasted to an SSPC-SP10 and then the damaged areas were filled with Belzona 1111. Belzona 1341 was then brushed on and followed with a roller to maintain a consistent run-out tolerance.

 
 

Belzona Facts:

Belzona lasts through the expected time between 5 year Stern Tube inspections by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS).
