Problem: The tanks suffered from severe corrosion up to through-wall defects with some live seawater leakage. It was only possible to stop the filtration plant for two hours.

Application Situation
Vertical sea water tanks in the activated carbon filtration plant of a coastal Hydrocarbon storage tank farm.
Application Method
The application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflet TCC-1. Surface preparation was carried out using an MBX bristle blaster. Several metal plates were cold bonded with Belzona 1212 to cover thin wall and through wall defects. 
Belzona Facts
For a traditional weld repair, the customer would have to shut down the system and completely empty the tanks. Due to its surface-tolerant and fast-curing properties, Belzona 1212 was applied directly onto leaking tanks, bypassing the need for a shutdown. In a couple of hours the customer forgot about his problem.
