Photograph Descriptions
  1. Severe corrosion in body of the pump
  2. Close up of screws installed
  3. Screws installed in split line and wear rings
  4. Completed application to pump case
Application Situation
The case and fits of a 60-year-old pump.
Application Method
The application was carried out in accordance with modified versions of Belzona Know-How System Leaflets CEP-3 and CEP-5. Because of the severe erosion/corrosion damage of the wear ring fits and split line, 2"+ thickness of Belzona 1111 was needed. Because of this, self tapping screws/bolts were installed to provide stability to Belzona 1111. After 1111 was installed, all fits were machined. Belzona 1341 was coated on all wetted surfaces.
Belzona Facts
The pump was approximately 60 years old. Lead time for replacement was 14 months. Welding was not an option because the substrate was cast iron. Pump needed to be back in service in a very short amount of time. No alternatives were available on such a short notice.
