Problem: These steps had been worn down after decades of use from the public. The polished surfaces were slippery even when dry, and in wet conditions they were treacherous. These steps led to a very popular breakwater and beach, and so access through the day could not be restricted. In addition, there was about to be a major “Big Ships” event, and thousands of visitors were expected to be using these steps. With “Slips & Trips” being the main source of reported injuries in the UK, the client was very conscious of the risks to the public.

This allowed the application to be done quickly and after an overnight cure the area was reopened to the public. Not a single slip was reported during the popular maritime event which followed.
