Belzona® Protects Acid Bund At Chemical Plant

Application Situation:

Tanker loading/unloading station for 98% Sulphuric Acid.



The concrete floor of the bund had been damaged by leaks during tanker deliveries.



Belzona 4111 (Magma Quartz)

Belzona 4311 (Magma CR1)





Application Method:

Application was carrierd out in accordance with Belzona System Leaflet TCC-15. The floor of the bund was first washed to neutralise any remaining acid contamination before being abrasive blasted. Belzona 4111 used to rebuild damaged concrete before applying two coat system of Belzona 4311. Aggregate was applied to top surface whilst wet to create an non-slip surface.


Belzona Facts:

Belzona 4000 series materials were chosen for their high chemical resistance, ability to bond to damaged concrete and fast curing properties that allowed for the application to be completed between deliveries, avoiding disruption to the operation of the plant.
