Problem: Corrosion had developed between the two mating surfaces that made it impossible to effectively seal against sea water penetration. The alternate method of repair would be machining both surfaces which would have been impossible under these dry docking conditions.

Application Method
The application was carried out in accordance with a modified version of Belzona Know-How System Leaflet SOS-8. The corroded surface of the rudder was grit blasted to a near white metal finish. While the other surface was cleaned and coated with Belzona 9411. The grit blasted surface was given a full coat of Belzona 1321 and allowed to firm up for approximately 2 hours before it was bolted into position.
