Belzona® Protects Internal Of Chp Stack

Pulp & Paper (PLPR)

Tanks and Chemical Containment Areas (TCC)

Customer Location:

Papermill, Scotland, UK

Application Date:

May 2016

Application Situation:

The stack of the plants CHP (Combined Heat & Power) unit

The stack had been experiencing corrosion issues from the chemicals within the flue gas stream. It was suspected that acids within this stream were condensing on the vertical wall of the stack & causing excessive corrosion around the localized area.Repairs had been attempted in the past by welding mild steel plates to the internals of the stack during shutdowns. This did not solve the problem & the base issue kept occurring year after year.

Belzona Facts:

The Belzona solution solved the problem & kept the metal loss from reoccurring. All the work was carried out during a short shutdown.
