Problem: The steel protection plates were wearing away due to severe abrasion. They required a solution to prolong the life of the equipment. if the problem was not resolved during the planned maintenance period, then the customer risked a unscheduled stoppage to the plant and costly downtime.

Application Method
The application was carried out in accordance with Belzona System Leaflet SHM-13. After grit blasting the substrate, Belzona 1321 was applied with reinforcement tape before being overlaid with Belzona 1811 at a thickness of 8 mm. Cure time was enhanced by heating the application for 12 hours. The work was performed by 8 technicians, over 6 days, in two shifts.
Belzona Facts
As an existing customer, for whom the Polish Distributor had completed a number of smaller repairs and maintenance jobs, the mill contacted the Belzona Distributor for advice on the problem. Crucially, they had carried out a debarker application in 2014, which was almost identical. This had been a big success and they were able to show the client photos and details of the past case study. The volume of product used included 5000kg of Belzona 1811 and 360kg of Belzona 1321.
