Problem: The pipe penetration is in a basement wall above the suspended ceiling. The exterior of the wall is under 10 feet of earth and concrete so the customer needed a way to solve the leak from the inside of the wall.  They also needed a solution that would work with multiple substrates.
Photograph Descriptions

1)  Leaking pipe penetration with remnants of previous repair attempts using caulk and plaster 2) Pipe and concrete cleaned and ready for conditioning 3) Conditioned area ready for application of Belzona 2211, a foam filler was used as a backer in the area between the wall and the pipe 4) Application complete with a flexible two layer "boot' that is seamlessly adhered to the pipe and wall

Application Situation
Pipe penetration was allowing rain water to leak through the wall into workspaces at a local hospital.
Application Method
Application was carried out using knowlege gained from Belzona System Leaflets GSS-3 and RPA-8.  Application area was cleaned using a bristle blaster and concrete grinding disc.  A foam filler was applied between the pipe and the wall to act as a backer during the application.  Area was conditioned with Belzona 2911 and edges were taped to keep the application within the conditioned area.  Belzona 2211 with embedded Belzona 9341 was applied as the first layer and tape was removed.  Approximately 90 minutes later the edges were re-taped and a second layer of Belzona 2211 was applied to complete the repair.
Belzona Facts
Previous attempts to stop the leak had not worked. They needed a permanent solution that would allow for movement between the pipe and wall and bond to both. Belzona 100% solids material were a perfect solution. Belzona 2211 has excellent adhesion to many substrates and maintains its flexible properties after cure, allowing for a flexible "boot" that is firmly adhered in a seamless membrane from the wall, over the gap, and onto the pipe.
