Application Situation:

Electrical conduit in demineralization, scrubber, pulverizer and crusher areas

 
 

Problem:

Sulfur in lignite (coal) combines with water (moisture) to form a weak sulfuric acid that corrodes the conduit.

 
 

Products:

Belzona® 2111 (D&A Hi-Build)

Belzona® 4111 (Magma Quartz) or
Belzona® 4131 (Magma Screed)

Belzona® 3921 (GSC Conditioner) or
Belzona® 6111 (Liquid Anode)

 

Substrate:

Galvanized metal and concrete

 
 

Application Method:

The application was carried out in accordance with a modified version of Belzona Know-How Leaflet GSS-4.

 
 

Belzona Facts:

If the conduit corrodes, the high voltage electrical cables (4000-6000 volts) inside pose a severe safety issue during cleaning. The Belzona application saved hundreds of thousands of dollars as the alternative to this repair is to run new electrical cables.
