Problem: The vessel required protection from the corrosive operating conditions. Belzona 1391T was specified for the work. The installation of Belzona nozzle inserts into small bore nozzles was included.

Application Situation

Newly Fabricated vessel to be part of the Cilacap Blue Sky project. The vessel weighs 10.4 ton with a total internal area of approx 70 m². Designed with an operating temperature of 70°C, and an operating pressure up to 0.2 kPa g.

Application Method

Application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflet TCC-5 and TCC-16. Nozzle inserts were manufactured and bonded into small diameter nozzles to ensure continuity of protection. The coating process was carried out with the vessel on rollers which avoided all overhead application work, and reduced application time considerably.

Belzona Facts

Instead of using upgraded metallurgy or increased wall thickness, the asset owner chose to use a Carbon Steel vessel coated with Belzona 1391T.
