Problem: Hot work was not permitted on the vessel, so Belzona were approached to use cold bonding as an alternative to welding the hatches.

Application Situation
The manway hatches on this vessel had suffered from corrosion damage and began to disbond from the deck. 
Application Method
Application was carried out in accordance with Belzona System Leaflet GSS-8. Blasting and grinding was not permitted on the vessel, so a Bristle Blaster was used to prepare the surface and the hatches taken off-site and grit blasted.

Belzona was selected because it was the only product that could cold bond the flanges in place with no hot work, solving the problem with minimal downtime and no safety concerns.
