Application Situation
A large housing estate in Leicester with 7 x multi-storey blocks of flats with balconies
Application Method
Application was carried out in accordance with a modified version of Belzona System Leaflet FPA-1 and FPA-8. All broken and damaged areas of concrete were repaired with Belzona 4141. The balcony walls and underneath surfaces were coated with Belzona 5151. A non-slip surface was created on the balcony floors with Belzona 5811 blinded out with aggregate.
Belzona Facts
These balconies had not been repaired or maintained for many years and so looked very unsightly with safety issues of loose concrete potentially falling onto residents. In 2016 the Local Authority decided to restore the first block of flats (38 x balconies), specifying Belzona materials for the job. The Local Authority was so pleased with the final result that in August 2017 they sent out a new tender specifying the same Belzona products to repair and coat another 192 balconies + 18 walkways on 5 more blocks of flats on this same site.
