Problem: Customer had problems with another brand of coating and decided to try Belzona to re-coat their condenser. This plant was not using any Belzona products at that moment but decided to give it a try because of the reputation of Belzona.
Photograph Descriptions

1. Left side quarter of each of two levels of the condenser.

2. Right side quarter. The other half of this condenser is in a separate room on the other side of the wall.

3. Heated plural component pump.

4. This shows about 1/4 or less of the hose needed to get from the pump on the catwalk to the application site. This proved to be too long and the spray application was abandoned for a hand application.

Application Situation
A coal fired power plant large condenser that was located on two levels and extended into two separate rooms.
Application Method
Belzona 1111 was used to fill in the rough and pitted areas. In order to be as economical as possible for the customer, Belzona 5811 was applied as the first coat. The top coat was Belzona 1341. The application was started using a heated plural component pump with insulated heated lines. Because of the length of the hoses needed to go from the catwalk where the pump was staged to the interior of the condenser, the product cooled too much before application so the contractor changed to a brush and roll method. The application was carried out in accordance with Belzona System Leaflet TCC-5.
Belzona Facts
The project cost more than the competition would have cost but the Customer felt justified by the quality of the product. We were able to save the plant money on the project by using a less expensive base coat without compromising the integrity of the project.
