Problem: The flanges and inside of the sea chest tubes had been damaged due to erosion-corrosion wear of saltwater. No protective coating had been previously applied. The sea chest tubes are custom fabricated aluminum for a multi-million dollar yacht.

Application Situation

Custom built sea chest tubes.

Application Method

Tha application was carried out in accordance with MPT-12 Belzona Know-How System Leaflet. Pressure washed sea chest tubes with salt away to clean out salt contaminants. The application area was cleaned by blasting with abrasive media. Belzona 1111 was applied to rebuild the flange faces and the inside of the sea chest tubes. Withing the overcoat time Belzona 1331 was applied as a protective coating onto the area that would be exposed to saltwater.

The Customer saved thousands of dollars in rebuilding the flange face ends and the inside of the sea chest tubes. Belzona 1331 will ensure long-term protection.
