Pre-fabricated plates were bonded over the scabs and then blasting could be allowed. Belzona SuperWrap II was applied over the defect areas so stop further corrosion and to keep the pipeline in service for 10 years.

Problem: Corrosion Under Insulation had created corrosion scabs to form at the underside of the pipe. Blasting of these scabs was not allowed.

Application Situation

The crude oil pipeline is a critical part of the refinery and could not be shut down.

Application Method

Belzona SuperWrap was applied as per a specific Belzona SuperWrap method statement and design.

Belzona Facts

Belzona SuperWrap was chosen due to having on-site personnel to be able to design, install and supervise the application. The pipeline had to be repaired or the Customer would have had to have an unexpected shutdown.
