A towboat propulsion unit.
Application Method
The application was carried out with modified versions of Belzona Know-How System Leaflets SOS-1 and SOS-2. The surface preparation and Belzona 1111 application to rebuild erosion was completed in July 2017. In September 2017 the application of Belzona 1331 took place. A 3-5 mil profile was achieved using alumina oxide. The surface was then washed down with a cleaner/degreaser and Belzona 1331 was applied at a thickness of 10 mils bu brush. The following day the second 10 mil coat of Belzona 1331 in grey and was allowed to cure. This gave an overall system thickness of 20 mils. The Customer left a 1.5″ section unfinished at the end where the two units would be attached upon installation in October 2017. After it was completely installed they grit blasted the un-coated joint and applied two coats of Belzona 1331 on the 3″ un-coated section and 2″ over the existing Belzona 1331 to leave a solid seamless finish. The entire application was performed by two employees, except for the blasting.
