Problem: UV Damage and possible loading forces to the HDLPE polymer tank resulted in a hairline crack above a 4" flange. Replacement of the tank was several years away still and the repair method had to be compliant with potable water standards.

Application Situation
A hairline crack/leak developed on an HDLPE potable water tank on a major deepwater drilling/production platform.
Application Method
The application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflet TCC-1 with a composite patch consisting of Belzona 1111/9341.

This application is still holding well over a year later, saving this platform from having to complete a costly replacement prior to the scheduled outage. This repair method has become a standard and they keep contingency repair kits on board at all times.
