Application Situation

A Voith Schneider propulsion unit was experiencing erosion/corrosion from sand/silt & sea water in service.

Application Method

The face of the unit was first grit blasted to SA2.5 & 75 microns. The face of the casing was then built up with Belzona 1311 before being overcoated with Belzona 1321. The inner bore was a sealing face, it was built up with Belzona 1311 & then machined down to a close tolerance.

Replacement would have taken weeks & cost around 15 times the repair. By utilizing this solution the customer saved time, money & the equipment will now have better erosion/corrosion resistance than when purchased new!
