Chain plate casings on a new luxury yacht under construction

 
 

Problem:

At late stage in construction it was realized that the design of the chain plate location into the superstructure would allow water ingress.

Belzona® 2131 (D&A Fluid Elastomer)

 

Substrate:

Stainless steel and Fibreglass

 
 

Application Method:

Application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How Sysystem Leaflet GSS-4. As the application was partly vertical, tape was used to create a dam to enable the Belzona Elastomer to be poured into place.

 
 

Belzona Facts:

It was not possible to change the design of the chain plate location into the superstructure so the Belzona solution was the only option available to ensure this location remained watertight.
