Problem: Sealing problem between the tubes and the tubular sheet on these heat exchangers due to a bad tube expansion, 50% of the tubes were leaking.

Application Situation

Sealing between tubes and tubular sheet required repairing.

Application Method

The tubular sheet and the tube ends were grit blasted and cleaned with Belzona 9111 (Cleaner Degreaser) . Belzona 1111 (Super Metal) was used to rebuild the profile between the tubes and substrate then Belzona 5892 was applied on top for further protection against aqueous solutions. The application was carried out in accordance with a modified version of HEX-1 followed by HEX-3 Belzona System Leafleat

Belzona Facts

The customer considered welding or dismantling the tubes to redo the tube expansion but it would have been too long and costly. The customer trusts Belzona products and has already used them for other works in his factory. For that reason and the speed of the intervention from the distributor, he was really satisfied by the application.
