Problem: The water infiltration through the asphalt sheets on storage silos was causing a lot of corrosion and holes on the metallic roof underneath. This caused the degradation of the stored products (pellets for animal feed).

Asphalt coated roofs of four storage silos.

Application Method

The surface was pressure washed and thoroughly inspected to detect the particularly affected areas. Belzona 3911 was first applied on the whole surface. Then, two coats of Belzona 3111 were used with a reinforcement sheet(Belzona 9311) in accordance with a modified version of Belzona Know-How System Leaflet RPA-10.

Belzona Facts

The customer had tried to use an asphalt coating several times as a sealing system but it was not efficient enough, the application caused logistics problems and would have taken longer time to complete. Belzona solution was easy to implement and durable.
