Valve From Auxillary Cooling Water System In Coal Fired Power Station

Application Situation:

The ebonite lining on a valve from the auxillary cooling water system had cracked and failed around the valve flange

 
 

Problem:

In order for the valve to fit correctly back on to the pipe spool the repair had to be flush with the remaining ebonite lining.

Belzona 1311

 

Substrate:

Mild Steel

 
 

Application Method:

The damaged ebonite liner was removed. The exposed steel was washed and grit blasted.Using a modified version of Belzona System leaflet GSS_10 Formers were made from Belzona working surfaces and clamped into position. Belzona 1311 was applied and following curing the formers were removed.

 
 

Belzona Facts:

Replacement coat of the valve was approximately €10,000. A weld repair would have burnt the remaining ebonite lining
