Problem: The company needed a solution to bond the brackets of their new water sprinkling and foaming systems on several oil tanks. The problem here was that hot work and grit blasting (due to the dust created) were not allowed on site.

Application Situation
Water sprinkling and foaming systems on top of oil tanks.
Application Method
For each tank, the substrate was prepared with a dust free blasting system in order to achieve the right surface roughness without generating dust and potential fire hazards near the oil. Then, the brackets were bonded using Belzona 1111. Over 1000 brackets/support were bonded over 7-8 different storage tanks. 8 brackets were bonded on the side of a few tanks, the remaining brackets were bonded on the top of the tanks. The vertical brackets were help in place using magnets and vice mechanisms, while the brackets on the roof were bonded without additional weight or pressure during the curing process.
Belzona Facts
The combination of dust free blasting and cold bonding were the selling points for the client here, as the work was completed whilst the tanks were full of potentially explosive liquids. The entire project took around 13 weeks instead of 8 which were originally planned due to weather conditions, but the contractor was very satisfied with the overall work.
