Problem: The application was a four story building with 32 flats and the stairway wasn't heated as it was located at the end of the building. The Ceramic tiles in the stairway got very slippery and in winter the water on the floor often freeze, creating a trip hazard.

Application Situation
The customer had previously installed several types of cheap adhesive tapes which all lasted a very short time and didn’t perform well. Since this was an indoor application and the distributor knew that the price would be an issue. One coat of Belzona 5231 with Belzona 9221 (Sure-foot Aggregate) incorporated was recommended. 2 packages of Belzona 5231 (Dark Grey, 4 liters each) and 5 packages of Belzona 9221 (2 kg each) were used.
Application Method
This application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Khow - How system Leaflet FPA - 8. There were 99 stairs (120 cm x 35 cm each) and a hallway on each floor. Anti-slip strips (105 cm x 10 cm) on each stair and in the hallway were applied. The application was carried out in 2 phases in two phases to allow the residents to use the stairway during application. For each phase, the surface was marked with masking tape, then the ceramic tiles were abraded with a rotary grinder. After that Belzona 5321 was hand applied with brushes, incorporating Sure-foot Aggregate with small rollers.
