Problem: The expansion joints were badly damaged by the rubber rings used on the slide. This was causing water infiltration in the little tunnel underneath the slide where customers can walk.

Application Situation
Expansion joints on a water slide
Application Method
The previous expansion joints were removed, the substrate was manually abraded and the conditioner was applied. Then a foam rod was used at the bottom of the slot and Belzona 2121 was poured on top on the horizontal sections. Belzona 2111 was used for the vertical and curved sections. An applicator was then used to smoothen the surface of the elastomer and make sure that the joints were at the same level as the surface of the slide so the rubber rings would not damage it and the slot edges would not damage the rubber rings. This application has been carried out according to Belzona System Leaflet FPA-6.
Belzona Facts
Theses expansion joints had been repaired several times with a foam type material but the problem was persistent. The joints were either too big, and the rubber rings would tear them or they were too small and the rubber rings would get damaged by the edges of the slots. This customer already chose Belzona for other repairs on this slide and was happy with the result so he decided to use Belzona elastomers for this repair and was again, very happy with the result. Even if it seems like the joints only represent a small surface compared to the whole slide, around 45kg of elastomers were used for this project on around 90 meters of joints.
