Problem: The neck of the floating hose leading to the flange area is suffering from severe pitting due to the corrosive and erosive sea water environment, several mm of steel has been lost.

Application Situation
End flanges of a floating hose are subjected to a severely corrosive and erosive environment at sea. The hose has been brought back to shore for routine maintenance.
Application Method
Application was achieved out in accordance with Belzona Know How System Leaflet VPF – 9. The surface of the flange (defect area) was properly prepared with the bristle blaster surface preparation tool to achieve adequate surface roughness and Sa 2.5 cleanliness. Belzona 9111 was used to remove any debris from the flange defect area after the surface was successfully prepared and allowed to dry. Belzona 1212, excellent surface tolerant product was applied to rebuild to a desired shape and form.

A quick reliable repair was required, other than replacement. Belzona 1212 was chosen due to it's fast curing time, which enabled the hose to be returned to service on schedule. Belzona solutions was chosen for its track record and previous successes with the customer.
