Problem: General erosion-corrosion on the turbine of a blower used as part of copper mining process. The erosion had caused a loss of material which could result in balancing issues.

Application Situation

Repair of a turbine suffering from corrosion and erosion.

Application Method

Application carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System leaflet FBC-01 & FBC-02. The turbine was grit blasted down to SA 2.5 and then the lost structure was rebuilt with Belzona 1311. Finally 2 coats of Belzona 1331 was applied to prevent further corrosion-erosion.

Belzona Facts

The cold applied Belzona solution was a fraction of the cost of having to replace the whole turbine and offered a quick return to service for the customer.
