Problem: An existing fiberglass lining had failed at the bottom of the tank due to not having the correct chemical resisatnce for the range of chemical circulating the tank. The failed lining resulted in a loss of material at the base of the tank and also leaving the substate unprotected and exposed to further chemical attack.

Application Situation

Repair of a tank used for fertilizer production.

Application Method

This application was carried out in accordance with system leaflet TCC-03.The fiberglass coating was removed and the substrate was blasted to SA 2.5 before rebuilding the lost profile with Belzona 1111. Belzona 4911 was used to condition the surface before 2 coats of Belzona 4311 were applied to prevent future chemical attack from occurring.

Belzona Facts

This is a regular customer of the distributor and the tank was inspected 4 years later and was still in good working service.
