Problem: A large crack running vertically and horizontally down the step treads on the terrace stand. The damage had been caused by adjoining concrete slabs at different heights. Previous repairs had been carried out using cementitious materials, but each time they had failed. A concrete landing area also required repair as the concrete had cracked and its original grip system had worn away causing a significant safety hazard to pedestrians.

Application Method
The application was carried out in accordance with Belzona System Leaflet FPA-08. The failing areas of concrete were removed using hand tools. The area was then conditioned prior to the application of Belzona 4131. This material was applied in a ramp to remove the height difference between the concrete slabs. In addition, the landing area was also repaired using Belzona 4131 prior to Belzona 4411, a slip resistant system, being applied.
Belzona Facts
The damaged areas had been repeatedly repaired using other many times using a concrete mortar. These areas have continued to fail. The Belzona application was undertaken by Belzona who are the specialist application team for Belzona in the UK. Due to the success of this repair the stadium has identified several other areas where Belzona materials could be used for the repairs.
