Application Situation
Old storage tank being brought back into service due to client demands, the company needed to refurbish the tanks with health & safety in mind. The tanks hold neutral sodium silicate and the old product has solicited in the bottom of the tank, removal was not cost effective.
Application Method
The steel annular plate was abraded manually to give a rough finish, and the concrete receive the same treatment to remove any debris and contamination. Belzona 2911 was applied between the base plate and plinth and allowed to dry. Belzona 2211 was applied into the gap to provide a seal and prevent further product leakage. Belzona 3921 and Belzona 3931 were applied to condition the annular plate, followed by two coats of Belzona 3131 to finish. The application was completed in accordance with Belzona System Leaflet GSS-3.
Belzona Facts
Belzona offered a leak sealing solution to the client and a flexible protection system for the interface between the annular plate and concrete plinth. The cost savings here are huge as they could not use this tank for H&S reasons due to product leakage into the bunded area. A new tank would have been the only answer.
