Belzona Protects Tank Roof Against Sulphur Fumes

Repair of a Sulphur tank roof.

 
 

Problem:

A build-up of condensation from the 100% liquid Sulphur had caused the tank roof to pit and corrode.

Application Method:

This application was carried out in accordance with Belzona system leaflet TCC-05. The tank roof was cleaned and then grit blasted to SA 2.5, achieving a 75 micron profile to provide an excellent level of adhesion to the substrate. Once grit blasted, any pits were filled in with Belzona 1511 before 2 coats of Belzona 1593 were applied to the tank roof.

 
 

Belzona Facts:

The client went with Belzona 1593 because of it's excellent chemical resistance and high temperature immersion limit (160*C) which other competitors couldn't offer. The client had also used Belzona 1593 around the refinery for other large projects and had seen excellent results.
