Application Situation
Ro-Ro Ship propeller shaft.
Application Method
Application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflet SOS-01 and SOS-02. Shaft surface was prepared with SA 2,5 grit blasting. Surface then cleaned with Belzona 9111. Belzona 1311 was used to repair the damaged shaft surface. Belzona 1321 was applied to on top of Belzona 1311 within the overcoating window, without the need of additional surface preparation.
Belzona Facts
Propeller shaft replacement would be very costly time consuming. Welding and machining at workshop requires the removal of the shaft which is time consuming and costly. In-situ repair with Belzona is low cost solution and saves time. The great advantage of Belzona 1321 is that it can be applied within a few hours on top of Belzona 1311 application. Belzona 1321 was used to achieve protection against cavitation.
