Belzona 9341 Reinforcement Tape

Photograph Descriptions
  1. Spool location
  2. Spool condition prior to repair
  3. Repair using 1251 and 9341
  4. Repair using 1251 and 9341
Application Situation
400NB Spool on the client's Cyclone Feed Line with an operating temperature of 80(°C) running Caustic Slurry. The pipeline in question is critical to the client, if it failed, it would mean the plant would be at half capacity.
Application Method
A DRY wrap of the 9341 reinforcement tape was used to determine how much was required. A thin layer of Belzona 1251 was applied to all prepared areas pushing it well into the surface. We then Wet out a length of Belzona® 9341 with Belzona 1251. The tape coated side down to the repair was wrapped firmly around the pipe until 1251 is forced through to the outer surface. We applied a further layer of Belzona 1251 at approximately 6mm thick to completely seal the surface.
Belzona Facts
As a replacement for this spool was not possible due to the plant having an unplanned shutdown, a repair to this spool was critical. If it had ruptured it would have shut down 50% of the site's operation.
