Problem: The pump was suffering from corrosion and also abrasion/erosion from the entrained solids within the process, this was causing a loss in pump efficiency.

Application Situation
Rebuilding and protecting a pump for a shipyard.
Application Method
The application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflet SHM-11. The whole interior and exterior of the pump was grit blasted to SA 2.5. Once grit blasted, the vanes and the center section of the pump were applied with Belzona 1814 as these area was where the most severe abrasion/erosion was occurring. The other less severe areas were rebuilt with Belzona 1311. Once the rebuilding with Belzona 1814 & 1311 was done the whole interior section of the pump was coated with 2 coats of Belzona 1321 for added erosion and corrosion protection.
Belzona Facts
The customer chose the Belzona solution based off a previous job where a pump was repaired with Belzona 1812 and still in excellent condition several years later. The customer was also having problems welding this pump and liked how easy the Belzona was to apply from the previous application.
